Pastor
James Spencer
As a teenager, Pastor James Spencer, felt the call to preach while attending Mt. Salem Revival Grounds in West Union, WV. After graduation from high school, he attended Bible college, where he met his wife of over 25 years, Michele. They married in June of 1994. They have six children. Jordan & Hannah Spencer, Chris & Lanora Spencer, Daniel & Tessa Spencer, Zach & Kathryn Johnson, Grant and Josiah.
Pastor Spencer graduated from Bible college in 1998. He has been serving in the ministry for over 20 years. He is currently the Pastor at Peoples Baptist Church in Mansfield, Ohio, where he has been pastoring for over 15 years. Before accepting the pastorate at Peoples Baptist Church in Mansfield, Ohio, he was an Assistant Pastor in Shinnston, West Virginia, and a Youth Pastor in Clyde, Ohio. Over the years, he has been actively involved in bus ministries, soul winning ministries, youth ministries and music ministries.
Pastor Spencer considers serving at Peoples Baptist Church to be a privilege and a joy. He has a true pastor’s heart for the congregation the Lord has entrusted him with. He hopes to have many more years of serving the Lord there.

John Carroll
John Carroll has been a life long member of Peoples Baptist Church. His parents, Phillip and Joan Carroll, raised their family at Peoples Baptist Church being faithful in serving the Lord for over 40 years. As a five year old boy, John accepted the Lord Jesus Christ and has been involved in the music ministry of the church since a small boy. Many people have been a godly influence in his life in the realm of music, such as long time song leader Virgil Ward, children’s choir director and organist Betty Connell, high school choir director Deb Donough, and ”Patch the Pirate” Ron Hamilton. Each one a testimony of faithfulness and instilled a desire in John’s heart to sing praises to the Lord. All the glory, truly, belongs to the Lord, and it the desire of Peoples Baptist Church to continue to honor and praise the Lord through song.
John graduated from Pensacola Christian College in 2004. He and his wife, Becky, have been married since 2006, and they have four children: Evan, Ethan, Morgan, and Hailey. John has had the privilege of leading the church choir since 2006 and the congregational singing since 2010. Actively involved in the Sunday School and nursing home ministries, John’s desire is to continue to serve Christ in whatever capacity the Lord would lead.
