Our History
The History of Peoples Baptist Church
Peoples Baptist Church was founded in the hearts of eight people in early 1974. Meeting in the living room of one of the couples, the dream of these eight people became a reality. In February of 1974, we soon outgrew the living room and began meeting in the basement of the Farmers Bank building in Bellville, Ohio. After several other moves due to growth, the Lord led us to the corner of State Route 13 and Vanderbilt Road. In September of 1974 we broke ground on the first building. Twelve months and six days later, Dr. John R. Rice cut the ribbon to dedicate the “Peoples Baptist Church”. In 1984, a second building was constructed and was dedicated by Dr. Jack Hyles on January 8, 1985. Our church was founded as an old-fashioned, independent, fundamental, soul-winning Baptist Church. God has blessed us with 17 acres and a wonderful place to worship.
What Peoples Baptist Church stood for 50 years, it still stands for today. A lot of things have changed since 1974, but the Word of God never changes, and the local church is established by God to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This is the heartbeat of Peoples Baptist Church. Over the years we have had some ups and downs, but God has never failed us. We thank God for the wonderful families who have felt led to call Peoples Baptist Church their home.
